SPONSORS

In the beginning, the Dream Team and BRAG were sponsored by Volvo and the middle school students received mountain bikes, helmets, bike shorts, gloves, Dream Team t-shirts, and sunglasses as part of their equipment and accessories package.

Cannondale was the bike company that provided bikes and helmets at cost and several bike shops, ranging from FleeFlite to Cycleworks, assembled the bikes. Breakfasts were donated by Chris Cakes and Dream Team members loved catching the pancakes as they were flipped high in the air and landed flat on the paper plates!

In the first two decades, a range of companies (United Way of Metro Atlanta, Jeanne’s Body Tech, Baranco Automotive, Bug Busters, and the Colavita Foundation for Children) and individuals (Dr. Gerald Gussak, Royce Smith, Julie Collins, and Mike Quillin) stepped up to provide major one-time gifts to the Dream Team.  Thanks to their contributions, the Dream Team was able to provide bikes, meals, accessories, and transportation to the young people nominated to participate in BRAG.

In addition, the BRAG Dream Team was embraced by the Metro Atlanta Cycling Club (MACC) in the 21st century and in 2006 MACC created the “One Love Century” bike ride to benefit the Dream Team and other youth cycling programs in Atlanta.  The following year REI Atlanta stores became a multi-year Dream Team sponsor and through the national REI Foundation, a major capacity-building grant was awarded in 2010.  This REI Foundation grant and a contribution from Pitts Toyota in Dublin, GA allowed the Dream Team to purchase a cargo van and road bikes.

After 29 years of operating with volunteers and occassional part-time support, the BRAG Dream Team finally shifted to a staff led organization in 2023 thanks to the Chestnut Family Foundation's multi-year grant award. Coach Philip Wu now serves as a fulltime BRAG Dream Team staff member and a new van was purchased in 2023 with Chestnut Family Foundation support.

Thanks to sustaining sponsors, such as BRAG, Cafe Campesino, Bryans Family Foundation and many individual donors the Dream Team is able to generate operating funds to serve Georgia's youth every season of the year.
